We pay you to make electricity

In our mission to help our customers save money and be more energy efficient we're a supplier of the government’s Feed-in Tariff (FIT) scheme.

Introduced in 2010, the FIT scheme pays homeowners to make their own energy from renewable sources such as solar power, wind turbines and hydropower. The scheme is part of the government’s target to produce 15% of the UK’s electricity from renewable sources by 2020.

From April 2020 the Feed in Tariff scheme has been closed for new registrations. However you can still be paid for the export from the generation by the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG). Details of this tariff can be found here here.

For information on the pre exiting generation tariff rates for the FIT scheme, please visit Ofgem’s website.

We’re a mandatory supplier of the Feed in Tariff Scheme. If you’d like to switch your Feed in Tariff, you can. You can also find a list of all mandatory and voluntary suppliers of the scheme on Ofgem’s website.

Switching

If you're a Shell Energy customer but have already registered for the FIT scheme with another supplier, you're not required to transfer your FIT to Shell Energy. However if you still want to switch your FIT you can find our switching suppliers form here. If you want to discuss switching with us please email feedintariffs@shellenergy.co.uk or call us on 0330 094 5806 Monday to Friday. Lines are open 9am - 4pm.
